My Writing Journey
Sometime ago I wrote my first children's story on an old portable typewriter while my baby boy was sleeping in his cot. At that time the world of publishing seemed like an inaccessible and mysterious place, so I never got to publish my story. However, I stayed busy raising my two sons, working with children in London schools helping develop literacy, training teachers at The University of Greenwich to make handmade picture books and classroom newsletters etc and later becoming a clinical hypnotherapist and Reiki Master. Now, I'm happily living in South Africa, and finally have the time to pursue my passion for writing children's fiction.
To help me on my journey I joined the South African branch of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). The regular Zoom meetings are friendly, helpful, collaborative and sometimes challenging. My experience as part of this group was invaluable and I encourage any aspiring children's author to join: https://www.scbwi.org/
I'm also a member of The Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLI) which has been extremely helpful in providing me with support and guidance. If you are a writer and want to publish independently the ALLI site is a great starting point. https://www.allianceindependentauthors.org/
My Books
The Adventures of Mylo: The Amazing Cat Who Grew Wings is a delightful tale of a mischievous cat who sipped his witch's potion and was shocked by the outcome! He has to accept the consequences and hopes all his family and friends will do the same.
It was first published in November 2023! The revised edition was released in mid-2026 with a new cover, a few additional illustrations, and bonus pages to encourage young writers to write their own stories using the Story Writing Recipe and story prompts.
The sequel, The Adventures of Mylo the Superhero Batcat, is now available as a paperback and eBook on Amazon.
